our products only contain fragrance oils that are phthalate and paraben-free. there have been preliminary studies that show some essential oils may be harmful to pets and humans when subjected to high temperatures, which is why we avoid them altogether.

how long should I burn my candle for?

burn the candle for 2-3 hours or until pool of wax reaches the outside rim to avoid tunneling. never let a candle burn for more than 4 hours.

why does my candle look bumpy after it cools?

natural soy wax tends to be more reactive to temperature changes. as the wax heats and cools, shrinkage and crystallization appears which is also known as frosting. this is a normal process and does not affect the performance of your candle. to help reduce frosting - once you've extinguished your wick, carefully and gently swirl your pool of wax until cloudy to help cool the wax.

why does my candle wax look like it has detached from the glass vessel?

these are known as wet spots. while we strive for aesthetic perfection and try to mitigate these instances during our development process, this is the vulnerability to a candle maker in using clear vessels and soy wax. as noted above, natural soy wax is highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations. such fluctuations during shipping or even room temperature may cause wax to expand and contract which results in wet spots. rest assured that this does not negatively impact the performance of your candle.

what is the difference between a cotton and a wood wick?

cotton wicks are what you'd expect to see in a classic candle. our cotton wicks are zinc-free and are properly sized to ensure an optimal burn and free of soot.

wood wicks offer a modern take on a classic candle. our wood wicks are high-quality and ethically sourced (FSC-certified). they deliver an optimal burn and soothing sounds of crackling firewood.

regardless of wick type, be sure to keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4" to ensure the burning process is safe and optimal.
